Blue and Red Engineering Bricks

As a leading UK brick supplier, we offer an extensive range of blue and red engineering bricks from suppliers such as Ibstock, Ketley and Wienerberger in sizes 65mm and 73mm. Durable and strong, these bricks are suitable for walls that are normally exposed to wet and freezing conditions. Engineering bricks come in two ratings, the first is a Class A engineering brick which is the strongest. The second is a Class B engineering brick.

Engineering bricks are a type of brick used where strength, low water porosity, or acid resistance is required. Engineering bricks can be used for damp-proof courses. Engineering bricks are specifically made to improve the technical and structural performance of a wall or building and are useful from a practical point of view rather than to improve the visual of a building. Engineering bricks are not used for their aesthetic value but rather for their compressive strength and low water absorption, a natural clay brick slip is a better alternative for a facing brick or a brick veneer.

Traditionally, engineering bricks are used in construction projects where strength and resistance to water, frost attack, or other weathering is important. Some common application examples of engineering brick include retaining walls, damp-proof courses, manholes, sewers, and general groundworks. There are two different classes of Engineering bricks, Class A and Class B. Class A engineering bricks have a compressive strength greater than 125N/mm² and water absorption less than 4.5 percent meanwhile, Class B engineering bricks have a compressive strength greater than 75N/mm² and water absorption less than seven percent.

For other projects, we have a comprehensive range of bricks, including facing bricks and fire bricks. Engineering bricks can be essential to the structural integrity of a project; therefore, it is very important to choose the correct one. If you cannot find the brick you require or are unsure of which product to use, please contact your local branch for assistance. Locate your branch using our branch locator.
